These cookies are great for every holiday!
My siblings and I would get to decorate the cookies once they cooled and our mom would tell us that we could have any of the frosting that fell on the table after we were done…let’s just say that the cookies were rarely frosted…and we had a stomach ache from to much frosting!
Ingredients:
• ¾ Cup Margarine or Butter
• 1 Cup Sugar
• 2 Eggs
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• ½ tsp. almond extract
• 1 tsp. baking powder
• 1 tsp. salt
• 2 ½ Cup flour
Directions:
• Blend margarine, sugar, eggs, and flavoring in a mixer until light and creamy. In a separate bowl, stir together the baking powder, salt, and flour. Combine the dry ingredients with the butter mixture. Cover and let chill for at least 1 hour.
• Heat oven to 400 degrees. Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into shapes. Place on ungreased cooking sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
Frosting:
• 1 Cup powder sugar
• ½ tsp. vanilla or almond extract
• ¼ tsp. salt
• 1 to 2 TBSP milk
Mix ingredients and add milk or powder sugar till consistency is thick enough to stay on the cookies.
